Rafael Sandoval

Madrid, 1964. Rafael, Spanish National Gastronomy Award Winner in 2017, is responsible for curating and enriching Coque's wine list with a personal selection of wines and spirits from the five continents made up of more than 3,000 varieties. With a knowledge of vintages and origins extensive enough to impress any wine enthusiast who dines with us, the Coque wine cellar allows you to choose from among the best wine regions in the world, with a particular focus on Spanish wines and wines with excellent values.

Trained at the Vineyard Academy of Madrid (Escuela de la Vid de Madrid), Rafael has taken several specialized tasting courses, including the master class of the Spanish Wine Tasters Union (Unión Española de Catadores). He has also undertaken further training on important European wine regions, such as France and Italy. Day to day, he searches for the most innovative and interesting wines on the national and international markets.

In 2006, Rafael Sandoval received the National Prize for Best Establishment in the wines category, awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and the National Prize for the Best Restaurant Wine List Design awarded by the Royal Spanish Academy of Cuisine.
